Exclusive Apartments and Villas
for your stay and holiday in Lucca

Update, today march 6th 2019
This house has been RENTED LONG-TERM. I will let you know as soon as it becomes availabel again!

This is a very elegant and exclusive self catering apartment recently restored and furnished to a very high quality level. The extreme modern and sophisticated furnishing style is combined with the antique atmosphere of the original stone wall and original theatre steps in a very suggestive location facing the very well preserved Piazza Anfiteatro.

The flat lies on the first floor (about 25 steps from the street) of a building of the ancient Roman Amphitheatre, where 2000 years ago gladiatorial shows and games were traditionally held. Progressively the original function was lost and it was fortified for military purposes; then it was used as prisons. More recently, in the first half of 1800 it was restored. Following a project by the architect Lorenzo Nottolini its profile was slightly adjusted and it became the present day square with the famous elliptic shape which correspond, to a great extend, to the area of the roman arena. The remains of the roman Amphitheatre are preserved and incorporated in some buildings bordering the square. It may be interesting to know that in this apartment the large steps leading you from the living room to the dining room were origanlly tiers where people sat and enjoyed gladiatrs games.

Entrance in the living room, separated and fully-equipped kitchen, dining room, a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with a bath tub/shower, a twin bedroom and a double bedroom sharing a bathroom with a shower enclosure. There is also a Toilet (without shower but washing machine). Every room is provided with an independent air co unit. There is Wifi, Dishwasher, Washer Machine, Satellite Television.

This apartment is located in the heart of Lucca Historic centre in a very suggestive position overlooking the ancient Roman Amphitheatre Square a few steps from everything you may need. A so central location offers immediate access to all the sites and sights of this historic and old city and puts all the culture, art, architecture, markets, shops and vibrant street life of Lucca on your doorstep. During Christmas time a typical, lightening and coloured open market is held in the square. A beautiful flowers market is held in April around the 24th – 27th to celebrate our Santa Zita. In June/July/August some concerts from the famous Summer Festival may be/are kept in the square.

We were 6 girlfriends traveling together to lucca fir the first time. The first time I contacted Debora about renting an apartment inside the walls of lucca, she promptly replied and I knew I had found the right person to help me with plans for our trip. She recommended Mara fir the day tours who was absolutely wonderful and tau touring for transfer who were also great. We narrowed our apartment rental down to anfiteatro Elena and it was fabulous. The apartment was exactly as pictured only better...wonderfully maintained and clean. We spent our days touring, exploring lucca, walking the wall, going to the Saturday market and eating delicious Italian food. We ate breakfast most mornings in the apartment after visiting one of the nearby local bakeries. We hired a private chef two nights to cook for us and what a treat that was. The people of lucca could not have been friendlier We all would highly recommend using Deborah at lucca holiday homes. Staying at anfiteatro Elena was magical !!!

Two couples and two singles rented this property for the week as a base for exploring Tuscany. Can't say enough good things about the apartment, Debora and her staff, and Lucca itsself. Centrally located, it was fun to watch day tourist groups stand in the center of the plaza and be amazed at the Anfiteatro. We loved the layout inside too. The bedroom with bath is dark, cozy and quiet. The other two bedrooms have windows on the piazza. The third bath with washing machine was a perfect set up too so the other four people weren't sharing only one bathroom. We took advantage of Maria to show us the area as well. She is a fine tour guide and very knowlegdable. Don't miss her town tour with tastings!

As a family on holiday with two adult children Anfiteatro is ideal.Three good double bedrooms, two bathrooms and it's sleek and contemporay enough to impress the younger ones!!!
Do remember to open the shutters to let the light flood in otherwise it could be a little dark as there are only windows on one wall.
The location could not be more convenient.Shops, restaurants, lovely deli's and the supermarket are no more than five minutes walk away.
Lucca wraps you in its warm and friendly atmosphere and charm.Lots of culture, amazing scenary, great villages and cities all within easy reach.
Once again Deborah and Paula couldn't have been more helpfull if they tried.

My mother and I had a wonderful experience both in Lucca, with the Anfiteatro Elena apartment and Debora Del Sonno's Lucca Holiday Homes. The accommodations were comfortable and stylish. Lucca was an absolutely wonderful village - charming and sophisticated at the same time - true Tuscany. And, Debora provided outstanding service before, during and after out stay. I would recommend both Lucca Holiday Homes, the Anfiteatro Elena and for travelers looking for an authentic "non-touristy" experience, Lucca.

My husband and I enjoyed 8 days here with four friends from the UK (we are from Australia). We were all very impressed with the apartment from the moment we set foot inside the door until the day we left. The furniture and furnishings are beautiful and the architecture is stunning. The beds were all comfortable and we were very impressed with the well equipped kitchen. We loved the views of the Piazza Antifeatro from the windows and loved living right in the centre of the beautiful city of Lucca.
A few negative comments -
the apartment is spectacular but the entry up the stairs is ugly and should be hidden from view as it gives a bad first impression.
The shower is very small and could be a problem for an overweight person, the other shower is over the bath in the ensuite pedestal bedroom.
There are no banisters on the stairs leading down to the dining area and one of our party (who has had two hip replacements) took a tumble down the steps which luckily did not result in anything serious.
The internal windows for the pedestal bedroom made it difficult for privacy.
Despite the above, we would stay there again as the apartment is a beautiful experience and is in a wonderful location. I would also highly recommend the service provided by Debora who met us outside the city walls and organised a taxi for us and our luggage before spending quite a bit of time showing us through the apartment and providing us with lots of information on what to do in Lucca.

I recently returned from my first trip to Lucca and a two week stay at the Anfiteatro Elena. My family and I enjoyed the apartment and the city very much. The apartment’s location is very convenient; close to shopping, restaurants, and city life within the wall as well as close to the train station for day trips to the surrounding area. We enjoyed having a fully equipped kitchen and dining area in addition to comfortable bedrooms. We were graciously greeted upon our arrival and always treated as welcomed guests. We enjoyed casual walks and bike rides on the wall, a cooking class, a beautiful concert in an amazing church, and a trip to the beach and Florence. Debora was consistently helpful and easy to work with from our initial booking until our departure. I was impressed by the warmth and kindness of all the people we encountered during our stay. I highly recommend Lucca Holiday Homes and look forward to visiting again.

This apartment is stunning and just as described.

Modern spacious and comfortable with everything you need and very quiet and clean.
Located inside the ancient walled city is an easy 10 -15 min walk to and from the train station.
The apartment overlooks a small amphitheatre containing a number of small cafe's and restaurants and all necessary shops, markets and supermarket are close at hand.
Lucca is a beautiful town (this was our second visit), busy yet quiet with lots to see and do or just relax in the botanic gardens or walk around the top of the wall.
Having very few cars driving around inside the city walls is great.
With good train and bus links we use Lucca as a great base to easily explore other regional towns and cities such as Florence, Arezzo, Qinquterre, Sienna etc.
The 5 of us had a great time and we would be happy stay again are very pleased to recommend it to others.
Thanks Deboara

We loved this apartment. It was light and airy and it was great fun to open the windows and listen to the sounds of the square below. Very central for day trips. Highly recommend the restaurant D'Olivio and also a trip to the church to listen to excerpts of Puccini operas. Debora was a delight to work with and made everything so easy for us. We would certainly return here.

This is an apartment you'll never forget in a city that will live on in your memory forever. The owner has put so much love and an eye for great design into every element. It really is a dream place and much more spacious than the photos suggest.
Being in the amphitheatre is an extraordinary experience. Whilst not the literal centre of Lucca it is the heart of the walled city and there are too many great breakfast cafes, bars, restaurants and shops within a 5 minute walk to mention.
I stayed there for my 40th and over the course of a week 8 other people came for a few days at a time. Every time a new person arrived there were the same "oohs" and "aahs" as we showed them around. We had cooking lessons with Alessandra, a local 'Lucchese' in the apartment (which I thoroughly recommend incidentally) and even she was bowled over by the place.
Debora is incredibly organised, so we arrived effortlessly, had great details in the flat of places to visit, taxi numbers etc and she was always close at hand if we needed her (the Wi-fi password was causing problems but she came straight over and sorted it).
I love this place and would happily go back.
If you'd like the detailed run down - the twin room is perhaps the best room of all. It has a balcony onto the amphitheatre, a main door from the kitchen and dramatic steps down from the double room. The double room is also stunning with views over the amphitheatre. It has a dressing room balcony which looks onto the living area - there is no door between the bedroom and balcony - this wasn't a problem for our group at all but worth considering. These 2 rooms share a fully equipped shower room and a separate toilet with vanity sink.
The ensuite double is very dramatic with the bed on a stage and a large bathroom with bath and shower in the bath. It's a great room, where I stayed very happily for a week - its only weakness is the fact that it's an internal room - its only windows are 3 internal windows onto the twin room.
Overall I throughly recommend Lucca Holiday Homes, Lucca and this apartment.

We LOVED this apartment and we LOVED Lucca. The Apartment had everything you could require, including hairdryers ! It was in a gorgeous location, close to grocery shops, supermarkets and internet points, and was lovely and clean. The apartment has a suggestion book with ideas to do while you are in Lucca, we did a day trip to a local winery and farm restaurant. Lovely. Highly recommended..

Our family of 5 adults loved making this apartment our home for the week. The location of the apartment was very central for our day trips to Florence, Cinque Terre, etc. The apartment was very clean and spacious - and fully equipped. The 3 bathrooms made getting ready, at the same time in the morning, easy for all of us. (Just be aware that there is only one bathroom with a shower, the master bathroom has a tub.) The furnishings appeared to be new and very well-kept. We would return happily!
